About Lanarkshire Campus

Set within Hamilton International Park, our award-winning £110m Lanarkshire Campus is the future of learning. Scotland’s brand new ultra-modern university campus is a truly innovative, dynamic and collaborative building, hosting inspiring and flexible learning and teaching spaces packed with rich technology to give staff and students access to some of the most modern university facilities in the UK. The campus has been designed to immerse students and staff in the educational experience and students will enjoy a significantly enriched learning journey.

Lanarkshire Campus was recently named winner of the 2019 Guardian University Award for “Sustainable Buildings That Inspire”.  According to the award organisers, “UWS Lanarkshire is designed to revolutionise students’ higher education experience.”

Space Solutions, headline sponsor of the 2019 Learning, Teaching and Research Conference, were behind the agile learning concept for the new campus, understanding and developing the user brief – especially the importance of flexible spaces for flexible learning – and creating the interior design of all spaces.  The company also assisted with change management and delivered the move management, a major task in itself.

Located in one of Scotland’s most successful business parks, Hamilton International Technology Park, our Lanarkshire Campus seamlessly integrates industry and academia and allows for mutually beneficial partnerships between students, staff and various local businesses.

Sustainability is at the very heart of UWS Lanarkshire, which is powered by 100% renewable energy from nearby Blantyre Muir windfarm and features rainwater harvesting technology, photovoltaic panels, a building management system, intelligent travel infrastructure and various environmental initiatives including compostable cutlery. The building is also smart, harnessing technology throughout to maximise efficiency and minimise energy wastage, resulting in one of the UK’s greenest educational environments.
